Find the broken linkin your chain of reasoning.
Revyz reads your A-Level Economics essay the way a senior examiner does: pinpointing exactly where your AO3 analysis stopped short, mapping your causal transmission mechanism, and coaching you on the single step to reach top-tier analysis.
From a Student's Script
“A cut in Bank Rate lowers the cost at which commercial banks borrow... As a result, consumption increases and AD shifts right.”
Say why spending rises: cheaper durables credit, lower saving incentive, and reduced mortgage outgoings. Without this step, your analysis is capped in lower mark bands.
How it works
Set the question. Write it. Audit the margin. Close the gap.
Set the question
Generate an exam-style question by exam board (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and analytical tier, or paste any past-paper question with its case extract. Already wrote it by hand? Upload photos of your answer instead.
Write under exam conditions
A quiet, distraction-free canvas with the question beside it. Practice untimed or add a 25/45-minute countdown clock to build pacing. When you submit, choose 9, 15 or 25 marks so the feedback matches the question.
Audit your causal chains
Read the examiner's desk: what worked, where each transmission mechanism broke down, and which evaluative dimension was missed. Every correction is highlighted in your essay with the fix right under it.
Fix the broken link. Master the mechanism.
Examiners cap essays in lower mark bands when a causal leap skips a step. Revyz isolates your weakest paragraph and coaches you on the exact economic mechanism to add. Ask for a model version of any correction, or the key diagram for the question, to see how it could look.
Visual Economics Models
Diagrams examiners demand, with the missing links highlighted.
Senior examiners reward rigorous integration of economic diagrams into your chains of reasoning. Revyz draws the key diagram for your question, with the shift and equilibria labelled, so you know exactly what to copy into your answer.
Macro: Monetary Transmission & AD/AS Shift
Most candidates assert: “Bank Rate falls, so AD shifts right from AD₁ to AD₂.”
Examiner Report: “This is an unsubstantiated leap that caps analysis in lower mark bands. High-scoring candidates trace lower debt-servicing costs, reduced marginal propensity to save, and variable mortgage windfalls.”
- Liquidity Trap & Confidence: If pessimistic animal spirits prevail (2009/2020), commercial banks hoard liquidity and rate cuts fail to induce borrowing.
- Time Lags: Monetary policy transmission takes 18–24 months to permeate through wholesale and retail financial markets.
- Supply Bottlenecks: If real output is already near LRAS (YFE), rightward demand shifts create demand-pull inflation without sustainable GDP expansion.
Assessment Objectives Diagnosis
Understanding the 4 Assessment Objectives (AO1 to AO4).
Every UK exam board assesses essays against four strict criteria. See how completing a single broken causal link transforms your analysis into top-tier reasoning.
How Revyz Diagnoses Your Chain of Reasoning
Examiners reward complete causal links in AO3 and balanced evaluation in AO4. Every step in the transmission mechanism is justified before concluding.
Knowledge & Understanding
Exact operational terminology: defines the central bank policy rate, commercial bank pass-through, and liquidity mechanisms.
Application to Context
Directly contextualises 2008–09 post-crisis monetary policy, quantitative easing, and UK mortgage-rate structures.
Chains of Reasoning
Traces borrowing costs ↓, saving opportunity cost ↓, and variable-rate disposable income ↑, leading to higher consumption and AD expansion.
Evaluative Judgment
Weighs the liquidity trap and 18–24 month monetary lags, and commits to a prioritised decisive factor in the conclusion.
Sample review · Monetary policy
This is what the margin notes look like.
A Year 13 answer to “Evaluate the effectiveness of a cut in Bank Rate as a means of increasing aggregate demand.”
From the script
A cut in Bank Rate lowers the cost at which commercial banks borrow, and they pass this on through lower mortgage and loan rates. As a result, consumption increases and AD shifts to the right, raising real GDP. However, if consumer confidence is low, as in 2009, households may save rather than borrow, so the policy could be ineffective.
Transmission mechanism audit
You jump from cheaper loans to higher consumption. Say why households spend more: borrowing for big-ticket goods becomes cheaper, saving earns less, and variable-rate mortgage holders keep more of their income each month.
Evaluative weight check
The correction sits under the line
As a result, consumption increases and AD shifts to the right, raising real GDP.1
Estimated mark, only if you ask
- AO2: UK context used well, but only one example.
- AO3: clear chain with one missing link.
- AO4: a counterweight is offered but not weighed.
To move up: close the missing link and commit to the most decisive factor in your conclusion.

Compared with a private tutor
Why not just hire a private tutor?
Private tutors charge £40–£60 an hour and mark your draft days later during the next weekly session. Revyz gives you the same senior examiner critique in 60 seconds, 24/7.
Fix your weakest paragraph, resubmit immediately, and lock in the transmission habit while the theory is fresh in your mind.
| Criteria | Private tutor | Revyz |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | £40–£60 an hour | Free for 3 reviews, then £8 a month |
| Turnaround | Days, often the next weekly session | Instant 60 seconds |
| Availability | When you have booked an hour | 24/7, whenever you draft—including exam eve |
| Feedback depth | Whatever there is time to mark | Audits every sentence for causal gaps and missing AO4 balance |
| Philosophy | Often gives an imprecise predicted grade | Formative first: tells you exactly what to fix next. An estimated mark range is there if you ask |

FAQ
Questions Sixth Formers ask
Clear answers about our formative feedback philosophy, exam board criteria, and data privacy.
Is it as accurate as a real examiner?
It's built around how the boards describe AO1 to AO4, not around guessing your grade. It is strongest at spotting gaps in chains of reasoning and missing evaluation. Treat it as a rigorous practice partner, and check big decisions with your teacher.
Does it give me a mark?
Only if you ask. Feedback comes first: what to fix next, with no number. Tick "Also give me an estimated mark" before you submit and you get a range for your question's 9, 15 or 25 marks, with a reason for each AO and what would move it up. It is an AI estimate to guide revision, not an exam board mark, so check it with your teacher.
Which exam boards does it cover?
Generated questions follow AQA, Edexcel, and OCR specifications. You can also paste questions from any past paper, and feedback strictly uses the standard AO1–AO4 framework they all share. Economics is first; more subjects are coming.
Is my essay private? Is it used for training?
We don't ask our AI provider to train on your essays, and they're sent only to generate your feedback. They are saved to your account so you can see your history (all of them, on every plan), and you can export or delete them, or delete your account, at any time.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel Pro from your account page. You keep Pro until the end of the month you have paid for, then return to 3 free reviews a month.
Is it cheating?
No. Revyz critiques what you wrote and asks you to rewrite it yourself, the way a teacher's red pen does. It only shows a model version of a flagged passage when you ask for one, so you can see how a fix could read; the essay itself stays yours to write. For coursework, check your school's policy.
Can I upload my handwriting?
Yes. Photograph up to 5 pages of your handwritten answer, or upload a scanned PDF. Revyz reads it into text for you to check and correct, then reviews it. A handwritten essay costs one review, not two. Your browser shrinks each photo and removes its hidden data, such as the GPS location, before it is sent, and the photo itself is not stored. Crop out your name and school first.
What do the 9, 15 and 25 mark options do?
Pick the size of the question before you submit. A 9-mark answer is judged on analysis alone (AO1 to AO3). A 15 or 25-mark answer is also judged on evaluation (AO4), with 25 expecting sustained, prioritised judgement. Feedback adapts to what that size asks for.
